The percentage of Asians in military service roughly mirrors their percentage in the general population.
The most likely reason you don't hear anything about it is because in the military - nobody really cares what your ethnic background is (unless you know a really useful foreign language).

In September 2005, The General Accounting Office published a report on the military and Iraq, detailing in 156 pages the demographics of the contemporary military. Here are some findings:
percent in military percent in civilian workforce
white 67 71
black 17 11
hispanic 9 11
asian 3 5
Interestingly, the percentage killed in Iraq:
white 71%, black 9%, Hispanic 10%, Asian-American, 4%
That means that whites are killed above average, blacks far below average, Hispanics about average, and Asians far above average (thought he sample size is small).
I bet most people who would guess would guess the opposite, that whites and asians are killed at below average rates, and blacks and Hispanics at above average rates. But the truth is the opposite of common opinion.

There are many of Asian ancestry in the U.S. military. As a percentage of the population?? I have no idea. There is no quota system for ethnicity in the military. It's all volunteer.

Going back many years, I know there were more Asians in the navy than what you would think. They were generally behind the scenes so to speak, They were in supply departments and never out where they grabbed headlines.
