Chew only sugar free gum... BUT if the Dr. says no gum no gum it is... stay away from sugar drinks, candy etc. you will do fine the reason for staying away from hard things, jolly ranchers, ice, uncooked carrots, etc. is so that you do not pop off a bracket. It will happen dont panic just call the office and let them know. Keeping the mouth clean is very important when in braces. Your dentist should give you a kit and list of things to do and avoid... if not let me know and I will be glade to help you out... good luck

Sugar Free gum is generally okay to chew with your braces. Just look at the package. Also, when you get the time browse the isle - there are some brands out there made specially for braces. But any sugar free gum is fine. Don't waste your money.
