Hehe... It seems like there's 2 opposite opinions: that it is a very masculine man or a gay man. Tricky expression, isnt't it?
Based on the way I've heard the expression being used, I see it is the "masculine" one.
I think Melissa ir right. I've heard "a guy's guy" said about a gay man, so I guess in this case it means that it's a gay man that doesn't look gay. Is that right?

A man that is a "real man" - likes to hang out with other guys and do manly things.

this means that man/guy is the type that another man could respect/ look up to.
Since women seem to see men in a different way.

Well a ladies' man means that all the girls like that guy and they are around them. I think a man's man would mean that all the guys like a certain guy. So it would mean they were gay.

A man's man is a guy who is very masculine, rough and tough, and get in there and fix it. A guy's guy sounds like a gay slang.

A man's man is a man that is seeked out by other men because he loves sports,drinking beer,checking out women,going camping,etc.(masculine stuff).

Man's Man means the man is the typical man...

-Handy at DIY
-Plays all macho sports (Boxing, Football, Rugby etc)
-Won't see him emotional at all
-Always surrounded by a bunch of guys
-The silent, brooding, chiselled looks type

To accept societal roles defined by gender. The phrase, "wearing the pants in the relationship," comes to mind. In other words, real men think this guy is a man. It's pretty silly.

A 'Man's Man' doesn't take a lot of crap from metrosexuals,treats a lady like a lady,stands up for what he believes,can catch and kill his family's food if needed,fixes his own car,etc.

It means that he is the life of the party or he is good at bonding with other guys doing guy type things like, hanging out at oak bars and having scotches on the rocks and talking about pussay and hot cars...stuff like that.
