A great, great-grandfather of mine was half Sioux and half African and fled the U.S. to avoid conscription during the Civil War. I'm looking for the following: where I could find info. on his possible location in U.S. before fleeing and info. on Sioux-African interaction and bloodlines in general. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. submitted on my original question. I actually don't know much more about him but he ended up in the Caribbean (Trinidad). At this point, just looking for general sites that might be relevant.

To the best of my knowledge neither Native Americans or Blacks were conscripted during the Civil War. There were Black Union Army units but they were volunteers.
