Puppies play bite each other and this is probably what is happening. You do need to discourage this behavior. You are the owner, not a littermate and your puppy needs to learn manners. When it happens, immediately stop playing with your puppy and walk away and ignore him. This way he will learn that the fun comes to an end when he bites you.

The dog is being playful but also trying to be the top dog. I suggest you make him stop now or he will think its ok. And you dont want him running around biting everyone elses ear either.

1. Because it's a puppy and it's use to playing with it's siblings.

2. I don't know what the "other" part of your dog is, but Austrailian Shepards are bred to herd sheep and goats...move them from place to place, keep them from going where they shouldn't,etc. They do this by running, and nipping at the sheep. he's just doing what his instincts are telling him to do. "Herd" you where you belong!

This dog will need lots of exercise. They are born to run.
