It depends on the year. I just bought a 1997 Maxima a week ago with 170,000 miles on it because it was in great running condition. The previous owner had installed a new battery and new wheels, the engine was in great working order and it's a Nissan- they can last a pretty good long while. I asked about it on here too and was told by many people that they've had Nissans last up to 250,000 miles easily if driven the correct way. Anyway the Kelley Blue Book value is around 4,600 for trade-in and 6,000 for retail. You might try to talk him down a little lower if there are any problems with the vehicle that you see, since those are just based 'excellent' condition. One thought, however. Like Honda Civics and Toyota vehicles that stay kickin' for a long time, Nissans are high-valued vehicles at dealer auctions. That means he may not be able to go too much lower because he could get a pretty good profit at an auction. Also be sure to also get a carfax report before purchasing!

Acctually, as long as the timing belt has been recently replaced, (ask for proof) It should be good to go another hundred thou. You can check out http://www.kbb.com to find out some prices on it. Always make sure you check out any used vehicle thoroghly before purchasing though. Check the brakes, tires, all the fluid levels, even the coolant. Then make your own educated decision.
