I’ve 5 yr old German Shepard dog. Last year suddenly he had severe frequent strokes of Chorea. We took him to his regular vet. He examined and told my doggy will not survive more then a week. After that I took him to other vets. They told that there is no medicine for such decease. Everybody were hopeless. Meanwhile one doctor suggested me to give him a subsidiary course of injections. After that he recovered totally. But now suddenly just before a week he was having the same problem. Now he is further under threat. Vet is unable to find the root cause. Please suggest me if anybody knows the reason and medicine for such problem.

So sorry for your beautiful GSD. I wish I could help. Please, don;t let him suffer, though.

take him back to that vet that gave you the treatment that worked. Ask him to give the treatment, and if he says it may not work, just say that you would like to give it a go. Its always worth trying. I had a guinea-pig once at our rescue centre that went paralysed and the vet gave him a steroidal injection, then a week later i took him back for another and the vet said euthanasia would be the best option, i wouldn't give him, the g-pig got the injection and has now regained his mobility, dont give in!

If it is the version of chorea that is responding to injections, then it sounds like it's the bacterial strain. If your pup got well under treatment, the infection may have returned and may need further antibiotics.

Unfortunately, there is a strain of chorea that is untreatable.

try taking him back to the same vet or try some other ones maybe in neighboring towns. But if she is still suffering just put her down everyone would want to die peacefully not in pain even though it may hurt us to let them go its probably the best thing to do if there is no cure.

Try Alameda East in Colorado. They are the cutting edge where vets are concerned.
