Spinning is EXCELLENT cardio.You'll lose weight, gain muscle, get your heart in shape, and be healthier overall (unless you over do it or something).

I think any biking is better than running. Excessive running can be very hard on your knees and legs in general. They have fun spinning classes at my rec center too like tours around the world (on a video screen) or a grey's anatomy watching spinning hour.
