You can't make a dog stop shedding. But you can make them shed less. Get a brush especially made for getting the extra fur. And brush the dog frequently. Your dog sheds in spring and summer because it is getting hot and it is natural, so they wont get so hot. They get more fur in the winter to keep them warm. You can not prevent them from getting more fur. Therefore, you can't completely stop it. Brushing frequently does make it seem like it is being slowed down. Good luck! ~PuppyLuvForever

My dog sheds a lot, so I bought a tool called "The Furminator" last weekend. It definitely cuts down on the amount of hair that ends up on the carpet, but it's kind of scary. There are several warnings about how it can irritate your dog's skin if you press too hard and you have to make sure that there are no tangles in your dog's fur before you use it. I raked it across my arm first, so I would know how much pressure to use...doesn't take much to leave scratches.

It works though, and my dog really enjoys being brushed with it. You'll want to do it outside or on a towel because it removes gobs of hair.

Brush, brush, brush - and do it often. Get a good vacuum and a lint brush for your clothes. I bought a Roomba and it helps when I don't feeling like pushing the vacuum myself. I also got rid of my carpets and have area rugs. I clean them occasionally when they get dirty and throw them away when they get really bad. Also I've trained my dogs to stay out of certain rooms. They aren't allowed in the kitchen, living room or guest room and they sleep on their own beds in my room. That way I have some dog hair free zones in my house. Dogs just shed.

There is a saying, "No outfit is complete without dog hair." There is some truth to it. An option is to buy clothes that match your dog's color - don't laugh - i know someone with black dogs who wears mostly black,

There could be an underlying problem to their shedding. You don't have to rush them to the vet, but I'd give a call and ask a vet. Also, Keep them brushed. Brushing helps dramatically with shedding.

You need to comb or brush them nearly daily. They will shed heavily going into warm weather.

The more you brush and comb them the less hair will get around the house.

Shaving or clipping them really short will not stop shedding. They will just look goofy.

sometimes shedding is a certain aspect of the breed. you cannot prevent this. it can't be preventeed during a season or climate change either. grooming can reduce this however.

however if they are shedding uncommonly much it could be a health problem and need to see the vet

Always brush them.Everyday!!!!!! I would also suggest changing the food. Like in the summer you shouldn't feed your dog with the food that it eats in the winter and in the winter no summer food.

You can't, but you can brush them outside frequently to reduce the amount of hair in your home.
