People got focus in on the evil that wanted them dead.
They put away their own issues and went to war.
Unlike 9/11 which liberals think it was just 1 time act and Muslims terrorism is all about 1 person.

After Pearl Harbor knew that is was a fight to win and press keep secrets and most of America did what it took to win the war as soon as possible.
Unlike today where liberals think we have to fight this war with gentlemen's rules.

The idea was to get the US busy with a pacific theater and out of helping the western allies. Germany had urged the Japanese to attack. Hitler believed that apathetic America would lick its wounds or at least become less involved in supporting English armament. What he failed to understand was a nation our size had incredible building powers, powers we didn't even know we had. The effect was to mobilize us into the understanding of just how great an industrial nation we were. Our ability to produce, our natural resource amounts were huge compared to the rest of the world. Outside of the fact that it involved a nation of 250 million into the war, it brought us into the age of world involvement and solidified our place as the greatest superpower in the world. Unfortunately, over the years we have interpreted our responsibilities in that rather presumptuously and have created pesky enemies as well as ardent allies. Many of our leaders haven't used wisdom as our calling card, but have used the sword for diplomacy. Ironically, the two nations that ultimately received the greatest reward by our involvement in WWII was Japan and Germany. Both superpowers (economically) because of our rebuilding of their nations.

well it had both advantages and dis-advantages......
first off, attack on pearl harbor resulted in the first and only nuclear blast on a city till this date(hiroshima and nagasaki)...(funny.....the ones who droped that bomb are the ones who today say that other nations should not build nuclear arsenal...)
anywayz a huge advantage of pearl harbor and that nuclear strike for the world was that world war 2 came to an end...
and secondly the advantage that US got was the greatest advantage that it got till this date...that attack on hiroshima and nagasaki exposed to the whole world the new SUPER POWER and it aided in building up the empire which we see today...
briefly, PEARL HARBOR WAS THE TURNING POINT FOR JAPANESE,FOR THAT WAR,FOR UNITED STATES AND FOR THE COMING FEW DECADES OF THIS WORLD...IT WOKE UP A SLEEPING GIANT :)

I gave President Roosevelt an excuse to join WWII with the support of the Congress and the American people. It also caused a lot of unwarranted hatred towards Japanese Americans.
