Has anyone ever caught a freshwater cod before and are they any good to eat?

Yes I have caught a freshwater cod. They are also called burbot, meraia (not sure about the spelling), dogfish, ling and i am sure there are other names.

They are good to eat skinning them is not the best because if you hit the belly they deflate and stink. They are known as poormans lobster because the meat looks like lobster in a way... so boil it in salt water and dipp it in melted butter... its good.

Didn't even know they existed. Are you sure of your identification? Either contact the closest tackle shop or just take it home and fix it the way you would any other fish. try a small piece and find out for your self.

I have, With my uncle in May of 2004!
they are good to eat!
I didnt like the tase though

no i have not i did not even know there was such a thing but have known trout to be called this though
