Did you realise that Marianne did not actually exist? She is the symbol of republican France and, although she is represented in pictures as storming the barricades, this never actually happened. By phrasing it the way you did, your sentence, as it stands, implies that both women fought the English and stormed the barricades, which of course is an impossibility. Your teacher will fall on you like a ton of bricks if you stick with that phraseology.
May I suggest an alteration? "Marriane et Jeanne d' Arc sont des exemples de force feminine; Marianne, le symbole de la republique, en donnant l'assaut sur les barricades, et Jeanne d' Arc en combattant les anglais."( my computer does not do accents, but there should be an acute accent on the first e of feminine and republique).
Nobody can argue with that.
