They claim they are being mistreated and/or surrounded by prejudice...paleeeez! From what I hear they make up about
90% of America's population. You're POPULAR!! Your like the
preps and jocks in school...you constantly bully everyone else
yet claim to be good. Why do they lie about being mistreated?

The vast majority of those claiming the title "Christian" do so only because they believe that the US is a "Christian" nation, and because they were born here, they must be one.
When you look at the data, there are actually fewer Christians than you are led to believe. A true Christian will actually believe the historic Christian faith. You will find these doctrines in the various creeds of the church that have stood the test of time.
In the Barna poll, you will find both Protestant and Catholic "believers" are actually retreating from many of these doctrines. Instead of the biblical Jesus Christ, they embrace and "worship" a Christ made in their image, as opposed to the other way around.
Therefore, the number of true believers is a lot less. Why any of these are whining is beyond me. We were told by Jesus to expect it. Since it comes to us filtered through Him, why whine?

When any group of people (religious, political, ethnic, whatever) has had a long history of special priviledges in a society, it is difficult for them to give those up. And, indeed, they almost never DO "give" them up; they have to have those priviledges taken away from them in order for there to be a more equitable society.
And they feel oppressed and persecuted.
It's NOT oppression or persecution, but to them it feels like it.
There were white people who felt oppressed when black people got the vote.
There were men who felt oppressed when women got the vote.

Well, living in America with the freedom of religion, we have it pretty easy over here. No argument there. But there are plenty of Christians in other nations who are not so fortunate who are persecuted, tortured, and killed everyday for their faith in Jesus.
And I also think you are making a HUGE generalization. Not all Christians are like that (bullying people and claiming to be good), and a lot of people claim to be Christians, but really have no idea what it means to have a relationship with God. Also, if you check out some of the other questions on here that are downright attacks/insults on Christians, maybe you might see that there still is some prejudice going on.

You are right with the 90% who claim to be Christians but who are not. They are in name only. They are actually not sure what they believe. They may be like you never turn a page of their home bible. At least you have cared to notice the Christians are complaining. These are the real Christians. They feel sorry for the backsliding and false Christians and those who are championing the things that the bible said against. So that is their complaint, that lies are believed as truth. So 90% lies to be Christians is taken as true Christians.

Given that Christians make up 90% of the population of America (I'd like to know where you get your statistics) they do not complain all that much.
Complaints begin when the right to enjoy and celebrate religious holidays is attacked. Having to say "happy holidays" instead of the traditional "merry christmas" is maddening. It's a passive agressive way of saying we cannot acknowledge the true purpose of our celebrations. Saying that prayer should be banned from schools is again, a direct hit to our religion. This country was founded on the right to freedom of religion, and not just the unpopular ones. Majority groups still recieve the same rights.
Better question is why do so many non-christian people care what we do for our holidays? Why should a christmas tree offend someone of another religion. Like you said 90% of Americans are christian...what the heck did you think you were going to see in December?

I am not complaining, I'm happy! If someone feels mistreated what right do you have to say they are lying. Who appointed you ruler of the world? That is the kind of statement that causes people to feel mistreated. You got some nerve.

I think you are seriously wrong. 90% of america may say they are christians when in fact it is just a badge to wear or a good luck charm. someone who believes in christ is going to live the bible to the best they can and have a vibrant relationship through prayer , studying the scriptures, witnessing about christ in their lives, and also fellowship with other believers. i believe now that believers in christ are a minority although , the religious, go to church on easter sunday people do make up much more. The fact is though that people complain period cause we are sinful and selfish inside.

You're an idiot. You're so spastic that you remind me of Koresh. Just bitter and spewing crap...no real logic to what you're saying. Talk about preying on the nieve!
In response to your additional comments:
Hey Freakish...you say you aren't trying to convert anyone and you don't like it that you can't have your own belief system. I really don't care what you believe, but be honest. You are knocking people and insulting them and you aren't the one being attacked in this forum. You haven't had me ask atheists one nasty question, and believe me, I am bright enough to ask questions that will stump you and contradict your every word. I don't bother trying to convince you not to be an atheist because that is your prerogative...I have many friends that are. What I don't appreciate is someone trashing my beliefs when they don't even really know what they are about. It also ticks me off that people know this forum is a way to be prejudice and cruel about another person's religion or beliefs and take advantage of it when they would likely never say it to my face. This is supposed to be a fun place to be, to get know others and to 'respectfully' listen to others' opinions. You are just as bad as the close minded Christians I have seen on this site when you keep on with the questions that are more like insults. Stop whining and do something productive.

Look at popular people. They're used to people agreeing with them, used to not being contradicted, used to telling others what to do, and not used to being challenged. But they will always get very testy when a geek makes them look stupid. Smack a bully in the mouth, and what you'll get is a look of stunned disbelief, maybe a few tears, and a lot of rage.
