The XTi uses Compact Flash memory cards...and I would highly recommend Sandisk as an extremely fast and reliable brand with a lifetime warranty.
Look at the Extreme III...available in capacities of 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 16GB...
A 2GB card would be a good starting minimum.
