Yes as mentioned all Muslims pray towards Mecca - so it isnt a case of praying to the east - in fact since the majority (perhaps 70%) of world Muslims are west of Mecca (Indonesia, India Pakistan Bangladesh Central Asia Iran Iraq etc) the majority pray in the western direction

It is not east or west, it is fixed direction towards holy Ka'aba, that is specific to every single point on earth. It is the symbol of unity of Muslims on the planet.

We pray towards the Kabbah in Mecca no matter where we are in the World.

[007:029] Say (O Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him): My Lord has commanded justice and (said) that you should face Him only (i.e. worship none but God and face the Qiblah, i.e. the Ka'bah at Makkah during prayers) in every place of worship, in prayers (and not to face other false deities and idols), and invoke Him only making your religion sincere to Him (by not joining in worship any partner with Him and with the intention that you are doing your deeds for God's sake only). As He brought you (into being) in the beginning, so shall you be brought into being [on the Day of Resurrection in two groups, one as a blessed one (believers),
and the other as a wretched one (disbelievers)].

[002.149] And from wheresoever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid Al-Harâm (at Makkah), that is indeed the truth from your Lord. And God is not unaware of what you do.

All Muslims pray toward Makkah (Mecca). Where ever they are, they face towards Makkah. So yes, that's right what you said.
