Atheists are happy without believing in God. What's God believer's problem?

I guess you're not happy with yourselves. I'm not surprised. Christians are taught that they're born bad.

First off, let me say that I was not born Christian - I was born with a pagan-orientated but basically atheist mother, and a totally atheist stepfather, who is, in fact, fiercely anti-religion.

However, I always believed in a God or Goddess. As a youngster I was Pagan, but it was hard to find books on it then, so I was reading big, old books on the Occult. I worshiped and I cast. I was happy.

Then I became Christian, at about 9. Again, I worshiped, I prayed. I was happy.

A little while ago, I stopped believing in God. I don't know why, I just did. I was angry. I felt full of hatred towards humanity, the pointless and worthless people, who had been the result of an accident, purposeless, and who were destined to die having made no impact on the world overall, as pathetic wastes of space. I was violent, I felt worthless, I had nothing to achieve except the decimation of others. I was cruel, merciless and cold. It didn't last long. I came back to God, and now I'm happy again. I respect life, and people.

Not everyone needs a religion, many, many people can exist happily without it, and they have my blessings in doing so, but for me it's an essential part of life.

x

The answer is rather easy because you make several false assumptions. Not everyone is happy, especially atheists. But happiness is no measuring stick for anything. Just because something makes you happy does not mean it is truthful or helpful.

Beliefs dont necessarily make people happy or sad, it is simply what we believe. It is what we do with that belief after the fact which determines if we are happy or sad. And it also begs the Q, "Can unbelievers be happy not not believing in God?" If God makes you unhappy then perhaps the problem is in fact with you!

The Bible teaches that one needs to love themselves before they can love others, especially God. Atheists may self-loath themselves but most Christians dont. Perhaps you are more describing yourself than any Christian you think you know. How many Christians do you know btw? hmmm

It is sanity not to believe in God. I have found that I am happier more now that I have Christ in my life, than I was for the first 19 years of my life. I have been a Christian 27 years, and I have been blessed more over these past 27 years than the first 19 years of not being a Christian. I was miserable for the first 19 years, and now I have everything that I need. I don't lack for anything.

I have more peace and happiness now than I ever did. I still have difficulties some times, but I am still at peace knowing that God is in total control of every situation in my life.

I think nonbelievers can be happy sometimes but they can't have the peace and joy of what's going to happen to them after they die. This life on earth is very short and their is so much more to our existence than just earth. We are spirits inside these bodies that can never die once we are created and we who believe and trust in God are promised good lives on earth and after earth.

It's true that we have all done something bad but God loves us all (including you) anyway. We only need to ask him to forgive us and he will because he is perfectly holy and we can never be with him if we still have unforgiven sins. It's peace that we have and not necessarily just happiness. We know that no matter what happens to us we are protected. He has this same love and protection for you and everyone else whether you believe it or not.

There is no evidence that supports the idea that believing in God is insanity. It's more of a cultural norm than anything else. Many believers the world over carry on rationally in their day to day activities. As an atheist, I don't see where anybody is happier or more well adjusted on the basis of their belief or lack of belief.

Dear Mr. B. Atheist:
"Atheists are happy without believing in God."
Sweeping statement!
You took a survey?
I happen to know some unhappy atheists.
Why did you omit them from your poll?
Is there a reason why you cannot happily go your merry way and practice your atheism, without feeling obliged to take cheap shots at christians?
You really do seem to be the unhappy one.
Well, maybe exasperated.
Frustrated?
Too bad there is no God, He could have offered some advice.

I am not a very religious man yet believe that people turn to the divine in search of peace at ones heart.
There are also many very sad and depressed atheists because all they have to answer there questions is science and sometimes that dose not always fill in the GAPS, and are u really happy or do you merely live a life of deception and eternity within balance?
i hope i have helped.

The happiness that atheists have is only temporary. The happiness that Christians have is eternal. Happiness without God is not happiness at all but since you feel it is God has given you exactly what you have asked for.

Theologically speaking, this question makes no sense. Christians regularly feel compelled to do things they are not "happy" about, yet consider important to the faith. This could be in the form of financial giving, certain sacrifices, moving to a different part of the world, etc. I don't think Mother Teresa was "happy" to see neglected infants in Calcutta every day, but that was her calling and it brought her joy.

How you get your happiness is
what counts. Evil gets joy out of
hurting others. Good gets joy out
of helping others. So, no matter
what you are, Good and evil will
stay the same. Good does not
reject God. Good people may doubt
the existance of God.
