the date printed on perishable fresh foods is generally the sell by date, not the actual expiration date. Dairy products usually last a minimum of 7 days past this date. Items such as sandwich meats I would discard 3 days after the printed. Always use the old standard, when in doubt throw it out.

It's already sour! You can keep it long beyond the expiration date. If it looks okay and tastes okay.... go for it!
Dates on some products are quite arbitrary and don't really mean anything. Even cottage cheese and yogurt keep long beyond the date if kept at the proper temperature.
Edited to add... stl and I are in 100% agreement. I've eaten yogurt that old, too. There's absolutely no difference. As long as dairy products taste and smell okay, the ARE okay. This is NOT true of meat and other savory items.

It's probably fine. Smell it, does it smell nasty and make you go "ewwww"? If not it's fine. Sometimes things like sour cream, yogurt and cottage cheese get shoved to the back of my fridge. When I eventually find them they can be a month or even two "out of date" but still be fine. I don't make a habit of it but I ate a yogurt yesterday that had a date of December 24th on it. I'm still alive!!!!
