I am a US citizen and would like to petition (file) for my younger brothers to come to the United States. Does anyone know how long would this process take. Thanks

Also for your info, you can only sponsor one relative at a time.

You are a US Citizen. Good. Are you over 21 years old? You must be at least that to file your I-130 (alien relative petition).

Check out the current visa bulletin to see how long of a wait there would be. (link below)

As you see, they are in category F4.
As you can see in the graph, the wait for such a visa is between 11-23 years. People from the Phillipines are in the 23 year waiting category. The wait is derived from numerical limits set by the US government to try to keep immigration numbers equal from all areas of the world. A more thorough explanation and mathematical formula is provided on the visa bulletin page.

The best chance for your younger brothers is to marry a US citizen.

Schmegicky sez: It's just as easy to fall in love and marry a US citizen as it is to fall in love with someone who is not.

Note: The dates provided in the visa bulletin are approximate. It is not unusual to see the priority dates occasionally "retrogress", that is, to go backwards instead of forwards.

Final Note: Sometimes the filing of an alien relative petition can have a negative effect on your relative's ability to enter the US on a tourist visa. You would be well advised to consult an AILA member immigration lawyer, rather than some person who is not a lawyer. The nonlawyer can't be effectively sued if they provide you with bad advice.

Good Luck,

~Mr. Schmegicky

p.s. The answer about being able to petition for only one relative at a time in incorrect. You may refer to the instructions on the I-130 form in the USCIS website for the correct instructions.

How old are they? If over 21 it will take a very long time, up to 23 years.

To my knowledge the only people you can seek permission for is your own child under twenty-one and your parent.
