In my school we have block scheduling, so the first half of the year I had English honors, Phys ed, and Science. We do a year's worth of work in half of the year in each of the subjects. For the upcoming half of the year I have Algebra I honors, Spanish, and World civ. I'm a freshman. I'm wondering if it would have been a better choice to take just plain Algebra I instead of honors and get an easier A, or stick with Algebra honors and possibly get a B.

It depends...if your mainly interested in your gpa, then go with regular, but honors would probably look better on your record and better prepare you for more advanced math courses.

It depends WHY you want that honors class.

if you like the subject or like the teacher then by all means attend the honors course.

But if you were are to get your transcript to look good, unfortunatly most are not "enlightened" and only look at the bottom gradepoint average.

That said .. I chose the risk of B's in a course because I really respected the teacher and liked what I could learn in a very hard English course. And I indeed learned more.

Also .. and Only you can find this out .. but at the college I attended, at that time, many honor's courses were better taught, also had better profs, and were easier.

The exception was college honor's Calculus .. where the prof was awesome, but the difficulty was insane. I had a heart to heart w/ the prof and he said "you dont' need this" .. and "I don't understand how the students are going this fast but I have been asked to go faster'

I would also think about the easier A and doing some fancy other thing like a sport or drama club or something.

First, it depends on your school. Most schools weight the gpa for honors classes, so the gpa for a B in honors is nearly the same as an A for regular.

Second, if it's only going to mean 1 grade difference (example: lower from an A to a B), the honors course is better if you intend to enter college. However, if the best you can do is a C in honors, you should consider the regular courses.

As far as GPA it comes out the same because honors classes are weighted. I agree with the previous comment that it looks better on a college transcript to have taken the honors courses.

properly once you've an B in honors and also you imagine you should get an A in popular i ought to stay in honors because a B in honors is the same as an A in a popular type ,plus doing properly in any honors type looks good on your transcript

its better to get the B in honors, especially when colleges are looking at grades. if you took more chances with more difficult classes, then they're more likely to give you a good look.

Since everybody is talking college you should keep in mind that you will have to take math classes over again as pre-requisite to almost anything.
