Lost in the recent arguments about the war and the solutions is the subject of the OIL. that is why we went in. What are we going to do to save the Oil for USA? I think it should be considered when discussing the consequences of winning or losing or whatever. Maybe a strategy that saves the oil but loses the war would be practical. The USA could use the oil to pay us back for the cost of the war. We could redeploy our troops around the oil and build refineries or pumping stations or bring in ships or whatever and take that oil home to USA and let the idiot muslims fight over who is god. Our troops could protect the oil and the operations. We could build a big permanent base there and defend it and admit that is what we wanted all along and stop all this crap about " building a democracy" blah blah Blah.
Know the truth and it shall make you free. We need the oil, we want the oil, we deserve the oil, so lets talk about it. Otherwise we should help Darfur, not Iraq. Be honest America

I think we deserve it because we conquered them and under the ancient rules of war we are entitled to take whatever we want. otherwise why bother with war if there is no upside or booty.
otherwise peace would break out all over the world and there would be no wars. we need proper incentives if we are going to be engaging in pre-emptive wars of conquest. ( I guess I have been watching "Rome" too much)

So, you feel we should just take the objective? We could but the international condemnation would be horrific! That is why we have to pretend that we are "helping" a repressed people.

I was in Iraq for 14 months in Bayji. We protected the nations largest oil refinery there from insurgents in what seemed like endless battles. It received the oil from the main pipeline originating in the Kirkuk oil fields.
Let me tell you that we're not in it for the oil. The infrastructure cannot support mass oil production. They could barely get 100,000 barrels a day when they were at the height of their production during my tour there. Plus, whenever they did start making progress the insurgents would lob a mortar inside the facility and set it back months or they would bomb the pipeline. It's ridiculous to think that the country is ready to be an oil superpower in the next decade. They are very much still in the stone age. I was there and saw it with my own eyes.
As far as losing the war.... we already won. We removed Saddam, ensured a democratically elected government was elected and built up their military. Who gives a crap about the WMD's anymore. I will tell you that I found lots of evidence that they were there and they were moved before we moved in. I wouldn't be surprised if Syria OR Iran has them now. So, don't tell me we didn'f find them. We were just too late getting there.
I do think that using the oil to pay for the war is an excellent idea. Did you know that Iraqi's only pay about 5 cents a gallon there? We liberated them and we pay over $2.25!! However, that goes back to the production issue.
Darfur? Screw that, too. Let the UN get off their butts and do something for a change. I hate that organization so much! They are ALL bark and NO BITE!! What a waste.

You haven't heard much about the oil because it has almost nothing to do with anything immediate. Iraqi oil is mostly being sold in Europe. While oil in the region, primarily Saudi, is a strong reason we're interested in the region, it isn't the only reason, and it's far removed from the Iraqi oilfields. I'm afraid you've fallen victim to the large number of people who say that oil was the reason for the war, but a falsehood remains a falsehood no matter how many times repeated.

Based upon oil import numbers, it would be difficult to justify invading any Middle Eastern country for that reason - We only import at most 8% of our oil.
That said, OPEC will be experiencing major outside competition who will be distributing this oil directly to China. It'll be interesting to see how China handles the environmental issues.
Darfur is a straight christian vs muslim issue - same as bosnia, which had a big affect on 9/11. If you take a side, you are punished.
Read into this and you can see who is winning the war on terror.
Why talk about the real issues, let us continue to listen to celebs who all think alike - thought they were supposed to be creative?

Guess you aren't that knowledgeable about what is really going on in Iraq. But first, the Iraqi Oil ministry has already brokered deals with the U.S.regarding THEIR IRAQI oil; Next, Iraqi oil fields burn almost daily although our media barely reports it anymore. Hence the reason why Iraq isn't pumping as much as it capable of. Next, the U.S. doesn't "deserve" Iraqi oil just because its government lied about the real reason they invaded Iraq in the first place, nor does it "deserve" anything that it chooses to STEAL for God's sake. Next, the U.S. has yet to account for nearly 10 billion dollars which went 'missing' after the invasion. Next, the US 'deployed' thousands of US solldiers to "protect" Iraqi oil wells PRIOR to the invasion. Now the 'contractors' pay US tax dollars to protect the wells. Next the U.S. is already building a BIG PERMANENT military base there, plus the military bigwigs and foreign contractors have already taken over Saddam's so-called "Green Zone, (a seven-mile long complex); next the U.S. lied about wanting to provide a democacy in Iraq anyway. Have you ever heard of any white man, regardless of where he is from, wanting to provide a "democracy, freedom, liberation" to people of color! (and yes, Iraqis ARE people of color. Some are as dark as U.S. born Blacks).Your media chooses NOT to videotape them.
Direct your "be honest" comments to your own government. Lay off of the people who live under the U.S. government. Most of them already know the truith!
Look at it this way. If the oil fields were in the United States and some foreign thieves came here to steal that oil, you would do everything in your power to stop that theivery! These people feel the same way, and rightly so.
The U.S. needs to go home. Thats it. ALl they have succeeded in doing is killing hundreds of thousand of innocent people. Bechtel has left. Taken the money and left. Halliburton is barely hollding on. Other contractors have collected their billions and left or are about to leave. Why do you think Bush is looking for funding to "provide jobs" for the Iraqis? (something he should have done right after the invasion)..but no, he brought in foreigners and US contractors because of greed. Now,after the U.S. is responsible for all of that destruction, he has the nerve to want additional funding to give Iraqis jobs, the same jobs they could have filled a long long time ago.

What planet do you come from with crap like we deserve the oil ? Wasn't it Chaney who said at the start of the mess the sales of oil would fund the war and help rebuild Iraq. We have all seen how successful that plan was.
What would happen if the Iraq government decided it would only sell oil to nations like India, Pakistan, Indonesia and other Islamic nations ?
It would make the whole exercise fruitless, expensive in monies and lives, all for nought.

Iraq was invaded for the express purpose to privatize the oil to anyone and everyone on this planet. The Iraqis have no control over their country or resources and that is why we're hated.

I don't give a damn about the oil. We promised we would help install a stable government elected by the people. We are honor bound to do so.
On the oil front we need to start a massive effort to become energy independent. Biofuel etc. should become our main focus.

Iraqi oil is for Iraqis. There is no one has minimum dignity accept an invaders steal its country under unrealistic covers(such as WMD lies). USA invaded Iraq to steal its oil and this is one of the reasons of the Iraqi resistance against its troops and the unstable situation there.

America doesn't deserve the oil just because they invaded and tore the place up. America deserves to go home where they belong and pay some serious reparations out of Bush's hide.
