okay, long story short, my so called bf is sitting in jail, i know why, but i also know that he had been lying to me, one of which may have been the reason my son was taken from me, i do love him, but i seriously resent him for what he has done, and now a friend of mine that i have known for two yrs has come back into the picture, and he knows the situation, and he wants a relationship with me, but i am afraid to just break up with my bf while he is in jail becuz he has already been threatening to kill himself...WHAT DO I DO?!?!

Are you from Houston? Seriously sounds like you are dating my ex. As painful as it may be, you need to get away from the bf who is in jail. The threat of suicide is a sign of mental instability, but my guess is that it is also a scare tactic designed to make you stay with him. I speak from experience as I have heard this one before. I have been in your shoes, at least to some degree (I don't have kids), and its not a good place. He needs more help than you can give him and you really need to focus on the well being of your child and getting him back. You may not even want to jump directly into romantic relationship with the friend right now either. You have a lot on your plate and a lot to focus on. You may want to consider giving the friend a chance, but taking it slow and keeping it more to a friendship level for a little while until your life settles down, but that is just a suggestion. You know your situation better than I and you may feel the time is right for the new guy. If so, then go for it. Good luck and God bless. I know this is a difficult time for you. I'm betting that he is using the old "I wanna kill myself" line to make you feel guilty. He sounds like a man that you don't really want to have a long term relationship with anyway, so regardless if he is in jail or not I would suggest that you give him the travel ticket and let him know it is over. If his lies are affecting your life then you need to ask yourself if this is what you want. If the answer is no then you'll know exactly what to do. Date the one without a record and move on. Your boyfriend has a lot of problems and probably won't have time for a relationship anyway. Tell him that he should get some help. Threatening to kill oneself is a cry for help and a sign of emotional instability, something you don't want in a relationship. Good luck.

Anyone who takes part of getting a child separated from a mother that was doing a good job is not a friend. You have to decide if he's really a boy"friend" or if you just miss him.

Give your bf some time....so that he can handle the breakup and then get into another relationship...cuz right now he might not be strong enough to handle all that....so maybe when the times right tell him how you feel about your friend...best of luck

i know exactly what you are going through... he cant kill himself in jail, so go on with the one that didnt ruin your life and get your child taken away from you

Don't let the lying bum hold you hostage. If he wants to kill himself let him. That's his decision. It wouldn't be your fault. I say move on and give the other guy a chance.

if the man has caused u to lose your child u should have already left him. but dont fall to quickly in love afterward think about what is best for your life. if this other dude is the one it will happen but don't rush.

that's tough. if you like this old friend then you should. your bf has been lying to you and your pissed at him! just do it nicely. say something like you'll always care for him. i know what its like to have suicidal bf's. it can get complicated.
