I would try gargling with a good mouth wash, whatever flavour you like.
Try this for a while, like 2 -3 times a day , give your tongue & throat a good going over with it, for a week. If it persists, see your doctor. If you are prone to sinus infections, your problem could be caused by infected drippings from your sinuses.

Lay off the Dorito's and Pringles and complicated cany and citrus. once you've a popular dentist call him day after today and they in all likelihood have a emergency determination and or call you community pharmacy they could be able to recomend some thing. look at information superhighway md.

I'd bet you breathe with your mouth open when you sleep, this would make your mouth very dry and irritated. Do you snore? That wouldn't help the irritation you're experiencing either.

Since itis after the sleep it must be because of snoring. Simple way of avoid snoring is sleep on yous side. i.e dont liedown facing up.

I've been mildly dehydrated before and it made the roof of MY mouth hurt... I don't know if that's your problem, though...
