You can't stop your dreams. Your brain is trying to make sense of things that happen during the day. If your dreams are vivid and recurring then it could be a sign of unresolved conflict or stress,
You didn't expand on the question but if your dreams worry you then email me, i will help if i can.

Firstly I would want to know why you wish to stop having dreams. Are you having continuous nightmares? Dreams occur during the cycle of sleep known as REM (rapid eye movement) and it as at this point that the brain is most close to wakefulness which is why we remember dreams from this point in our sleep more easily. Everyone dreams, however not everyone remembers their dreams. There is much argument over the purpose of dreams with scientists and philosophers disagreeing over the meaning of dreams. Talking to a psychologist over something big which is bothering you could reduce nightmares as they tend to be things which have been pushed to the back of your mind. Maybe it's time to dig up that patio and admit all.......

Without REM sleep (deep, real restful sleep) and dreams people's daily functions suffer: we get moody, paranoid, tense. Even nightmares (which I have frequently) happen on purpose to work out your mind and emotions thru images.
My vivid dreams often scare me and make my day kinda suck, but I appreciate that my brain is trying to work me thru something hard; maybe it's becuz I had a fight with someone, or a person hurt my feelings, or I'm about to make a change in my life. Luckily for me, in-between the bad dreams, I can have interesting dreams, like the other night I had 3 dreams about Dr Wilson (of "House")! I think this is becuz I have a crush on him. See? Sometimes we dream things that are important to us, and our minds want us to experience the situation to exercise our brains.
Don't eat a heavy meal or work out 1hour before bed. Take a relaxing bath or shower 90 mins before u sleep. Lavender spray or lotion is calming. Write out on paper some happy things that you wana dream about, or some names of people u like or love, which may help u feel peaceful.

If they are nightmares...they are actually serving a purpose...how you think and what you are feeling during the dream often can represent what you are thinking and feeling in your everyday life at the moment.
For example a dream that has made you afraid, look at your real life ....what are you worried or afraid of?
Nightmares are a way for your brain to go through stuff that's on your mind that you are not dealing with.
Hope that helps.

You can't. But you can take charge of your dreams. Don't let your dreams run wild and control you! Just before you dose off think of yourself as a mighty warrior or the coolest on the street for example. Depand space for yourself in your dreams where you can also relax - your not sleeping for nothing.

it's impossible to stop all dreams I think, but I've been having some really strange scary dreams lately so I went to a local indian/spiritual shop and bought a dream catcher. many people tell me they get rid of the negative dreams, but I haven't slept with it yet. try it out, I hope it helps us both

If you don't have dreams, you die. When you dream, your eye moves (rolls etc.) and without them moving behind your eylids, you would die.
My mother told me an old chinese saying is to stop nightmares keep your legs straight when you go to sleep instead of bent, so don't roll up in a little ball. When I tried this when I was 10, it did work...for a few nights...although I still did have dreams.

your brain get ride of some un-useful energy by dreams. so if you have many dreams it means that you have good energy but you have to help yourself.
1- no alcohol
2- sleep enough
3- take a shower before sleeping ( you can use it with salt )
4- do not make yourself too tired.
5- sports are useful.

I've heard of this thing where you sleep for 20 minutes at multiple points in the day. I don't know if that's healthy but you probably wouldn't have enough time to have dreams.
