How good is the sound quality for the auxiliary input on car stereos?

Does it at least sound like CD quality?

Depends on the brand of stereo. What are you trying to input? A MP3 player? It will work fine for an MP3 but remember even MP3s are not cd quality unless you convert @ 192 bits or higher but at 128 bits there is an obvious sound degredation.

As long as you're using a decent pair of RCA plugs and not some El cheapo ones, the sound will be just fine. So long as you've got good speakers that is!
