My lovely neighbor constantly beeps his horn when he arrives home, any time of day or night. It's not just one beep but many.
I thought horns are supposed to be used to prevent an accident.

Call your local police station and find out if anything can be done. My neighbor got a fine for doing the same thing. I believe it was because he was in violation of the sound ordinance by honking his horn at 3am to have someone come out and open his gate rather getting out and doing it himself.

I had a neighbor that did that. He would get home late around 2-3 a.m. and beep his horn. So I did a little pay back by beeping my own horn when I got up and left for work at 6:30 a.m. After I woke him up a few times, he quit with the beeping. No, two wrongs don't make a right, but sometimes people need a dose of their own medicine.

I agree, that isn't right, it's very annoying! First thing to do is just politely tell him it bothers you and ask him to stop... maybe he just doesn't realise it, not that he's stupid but a bit self-centered, no doubt his wife thinks it's very considerate and nice of him... if that doesn't work you can always try some of the other tips, like beeping early in the morning (don't forget to apologize to the *other* neighbors :-)) or calling the cops on him. But always try to talk first!

I think you should walk up to him and hand him a photocopy of what a car horn is for. Smile at him and let him know that it is also okay to beep when your professional teams win the finals, but at no other time. Tell him to have a good day.

My neighbor is handicapped so she would beep three times when she came home to signal that she would need help to get out of the car to her hubby. Maybe it's the same reason?
Can't hurt to ask him right?

Just ask the neighbir why they beep their horn so much. Let them know that ur annoyed by it (in a nice way) and see if they will stop.

Yes they are. I believe it's illegal to beep between 11 pm and 7 am. Well in England I mean. Pain in the bum..

Reasons to honk your horn.

Think "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder

chorus tune
I just honked to say I see you
I just beeped to let you know I’m there
I just honked to say I’m passing,
and I really hope that you stay in your lane…

verse tune
No right of way
No stops on red
No ones even heard of safe-following-distance

No helmet laws
Just ‘make way for the bus’
Its funny how quickly you grow to love the chaos

Everyone together now - Back to the chorus!

Seroiusly. Politely let him know that you are annoyed by it and ask him to please stop.
Maybe he doesn't realize that he's bothering anyone. (ignorance)

There will always be people like this - the only thing you can do is try to get the parking space no. or apt. no of this person & complain bto the Manager. If you are in a house get your husband to complain to this man directly

Sounds like a signal, to let others know he is out front getting ready to come in.
