I had never heard of it until today, but I definately have it. When I eat certain raw fruits or vegitables my throat itches. Looking at some of the reaserch I think I am allergic to allot more of them than I thought. Like when I cut up raw potatoes my hands itch and I have to make sure not to touch my face until after I wash my hands. I had never really thought of it as an allergy, but I guess it is. I have always had very bad hayfever, which is what causes OAS. When I was younger I thought everyones troat itched when they ate certain veggies and I just didn't like them. But what I am currious about is if anyone else who has this has found that if they drink milk with or put ranch dressing on the fruit/vegies, if that helps prevent the reacion, atleast the more mild ones. From what I have read it makes sense, the reaction is in the mucous and milk coats your throat. But I am just wondering if this is true for anyone else. I haven't found any reaserch on it, but I know it is true for me. Like if I eat a bananna my throat will itch, but if I drink a glass of milk with it I'm fine. I'm sure it still itches a little in between drinks, but I can enjoy eating it.

Milk will coat the stomach and intestinal lining and offers a bit of protection - but it may not always work. If I were you, I'd stop eating the veggies and raw fruits now - you are still introducing food into your system that the body reacts to and it can cause problems later on. Believe me, you don't want to muck with food sensitivities. The immune system can just take so much.

You should go have the old allergy test with your allergist. You can change your diet, but you might eat something that you don't know you're allergic to and your throat could close an hamper your ability to breathe or swallow. This is definitely for a doctor to decide. In the meantime, take supplements and don't eat the veggies.

Everything you say is true, at least for me. I always have milk with any raw vegetables or bananas. Sometimes mayonase will work with my avacado. Sometimes you don't need a doctor to tell you what to do! Just drink milk with your veggies!
