One of my best guy friends likes me, and I like him. One of our mutual friends keeps asking me who I like, and I have a theory that she and my friend are in cahoots. He asks her to find out who I like, she finds out and tells him, he asks me out. I'd rather not get her involved in this, though. I'd like to tell him myself during one of our free periods together.

Any ideas to get him to feel more relaxed around me so he can just ask? Or for the guys, why does he want to get our friend involved? Any input is welcome. :)

The only reason he would want to get your friend involved is because of what you said. He probably doesn't know if you like him back, and figures that you'd tell your friend so that she could report back to him.

If you don't want to get your friend involved, then you're going to be the one who has to tell him, and if you don't want to tell him, then just hint at it. If you're sure that he likes you, it shouldn't be so hard.

He doesn't say anything for the same reason you probably don't say anything, he is just nervous. If you just hint at it, he'll probably tell you.

During one of ur free periods together, tell him about ur mutual friend and her questions. and how u don't want to get her involved .. u may mention also that this should start only between the two parties of the relationship. I guess he will tell u every thing after that

Well, just keep looking at him whenever you see him.
Smile at him, and wave to him.
Tell your friend to tell him to ask you out.
It should happen.
