my wife had a permanent 3 profile for her knees. it states no field duty, cannot wear full battle rattle (field gear), no range (firing or carrying her weapon), no PT test (not even the alternate events....all at own pace and distance), non deployable, and no lifting over 30 lbs. she is going through a medical board to be released. my question is....what are the odds of her being released from the army?

remember, army regs state that a soldier must take a PT test every 6 months and fire a weapon evry 12 months. she can do neither.

Hello a former 42 series here (admin). I have processed several soldiers in your wifes situation (one on my own operations staff). 100%. She just has to be patient and go through the process, which can be long (sometimes up to 2years or more). But based on what you say she is going to be boarded, sorry to hear about her condition though.

That depends on the nature of the discharge and the medical condition. If it was a medical discharge then it just depends on what the reason. If its related to an inability to do cardio or physical acts you can bet he wont be able to be a cop. Federal jobs are still open.

It depends. If she has any skills which are needed and don't require field deployment (such as financial administration or translator) they may just reassign her to one of those with a medical restriction on activity. Otherwise a medical discharge is rather likely.

It depends on your wife's skills. If she has a valuable "desk or medical skill", they will keep her. If not, they will probably discharge her.
