I live in Toronto and go to L.A. about once or twice every year. I would rather continue living in Toronto than moving to L.A. Toronto is a better city because it's alot cleaner, the people are friendlier, better public transit (here in Toronto we take the TTC because it's convenient, there they take public transport because they're poor. The cost of living in L.A. is also significantly higher than in Toronto, many areas of L.A. are delapidated. I live in Rexdale and it's nowhere near as bad as parts of L.A.

L.A. has it's pluses though, good weather, nice highway system, but you can't smoke grass on the streets, lol.

The two cities are totally different. LA is Hollywood, Disneyland, all sorts of top quality museums and theaters. LA has EVERYTHING anyone could want. Of course that includes some crime, few dangerous areas, and lots of crowded beaches. The prices are high on everything, too.

Toronto is a okay place if you just want to be cool, get married, have some kids, and live a nice, but ordinary life. Its clean, has parks, four seasons, and everything that is peaceful about Canada.

I'm with James C. Also, incredible as it may seem Toronto has more of a legitimate theatre scene and it is also a bit more multi-cultural than is L.A. - Toronto is actually now the world's most ethnically mixed city.

What Toronto does not have that L.A. does, alas, is Trader Joe's.

Toronto has less crime than Los Angeles but not as nice of weather. It has good public transportation and lots of ethnic restaurants. I feel safe there even at night.
