This illness may be year round but they have to be in highly lit areas and the even make a special light box to lighten up the room. I know some one who has it but can't think of the name. Someone told me it might be S.E.D. but they were not for sure on that.

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

The special lights mimic the complete range of wave lengths of sunlight, which is something that cannot be done by most light bulbs. You also don't get the specific therapeutic range by standing or sitting in front of a window with direct light, as the glass blocks that range.

Someone finally made up a name for it - seasonal affective disorder. It's just plain depression, due to lack of the sun and/or light. People who move to Alaska find this happening a great deal. It's now called SAD.
