write him a note telling him you like him. then if he goes out with you he can automatically go with you to the dance. good luck.

I would ask him to the dance first because there will be other ppl and ur freinds so ur not alone and it wont be akward for a first date. To ask him start off just talking and see if he as someone to go with then if he says no say me nither maybe we should go together
