I have faux finished my dining room walls in a gold and copper parchment technique. It's kind of dark though. Any thoughts on how to get it to lighten up without having to repaint it, but still have the depth of color and interesting texture?

What if you applied a glaze to soften it and lighten it up? Try that. Go to HGTV.com for ideas. It's a good, helpful site.

How about a trowellable metallic gel?

Adicolor makes them and they are water based gels. You could pick a lighter metallic than you already have and trowel on a very thin coat. Trowel it on, trowel it off, leaving only what remains in the textured areas (assuming the parchment leaves even a subtle amount of texture).
Oh and be sure and use a venetian plaster trowel. Many "over the counter" trowels have even minute rugged corners which could tear your parchment paper. Adicolor has the trowels as well.
