I'm not sure what the rules are where you live, but I think you need to be 18 before you can do that unless you get parental consent. Let me warn you not to do it yourself or have a friend do it. Your tongue is a mass of different muscles. If you don't get it done properly, you can end up with some of your tongue muscles not working properly which can affect your speech and your ability to eat. I had mine pierced for a while, but I took it out when I became a speech-language pathologist. I would strongly advise you to wait until you are older.

You're too young.

They do not and should not numb the area to be pierced. If you can't handle the pain, don't get the piercing. All piercings hurt but since everyone is different, no one can tell you how much it may hurt you. Its gonna hurt, its gonna swell and you're gonna have a hard time eating and talking for a few days to a few weeks.

You'll have to wait anyway since no reputable piercer will touch you, you're only 13 and most places won't do piercings like that on anyone younger than 16+ anyway.

Ok, I'll tell you what I know about this, although it's not likely to make me very popular. Tongue piercings are dicey. Although there are a great number of people out there who have them and have had no problems with them (that they are AWARE of) there are many nerves running throughout the human body and if you have looked at acupuncture then you know that it's really true that you can alter the way a body works by putting a needle here or there. There have been cases of people having extreme health problems which left the Dr's scratching their heads only to find out by coincidence, that when they removed their piercing the health problems stopped! If that isn't the last word on the subject of "is it unhealthy?" I don't know what is.
Tongue piercing is regarded by most observers as a measure of sexual self expression. Decide if you want that label. (whether it's true or not doesn't make any difference, as, that is how it is USUALLY perceived) At your age I highly recommend you don't do it, as there are many other ways you can be radical without endangering your health. Extreme hair cuts, clothing choices, the way you talk, or simply defying convention in the way that you act. (in a good way). I hope this helps.

no reputble places wont numb it... plus you are only 13. noone will touch yyou till you are at least 16 with a parent or guardian with you... thats the law. and if you find a place that will pierce you now they probabaly arent reputable.... if they are piercing a minor. then what are their health codes like? so as well as a tongue piercing you could walk out wiht a disease because nto all of the tools were sterilized... but allpiercings hurt.. and all piercings are worth the pain... if you really want them that is. you dont need numbing gel/cream. it will be over quickly. but i would be worried about badly it would swell. you cant eat solid foods for a good week. and you will literally need to learn how to talk abaing.. there is always the risk of infetion and chipped tetth which are very costly to fix....

Any place that will pierce a 13 year olds tongue should not be gone to. At 13 you don't know what you want to do and are less likely to take care of it properly. Your tongue swells for three days to a week and NEVER fully heals because the tongue is a muscle, so unlike cartilage it remains an open wound. You should wait until you are about 17 and go ask a piercing shop if they will do it if you still want it. Why do you want to put calcium attracking metal in your mouth before your mouth is done changing? You will get wisdom teeth and molars still and the addition of those hurts, the ring might multiply the pain because anything cold you put in your mouth will make your mouth even colder. Think about it a long while before you do anything. I'm 18 now and I still wont get my tongue pierced. You should also ask your dentist because you could need to take calcium with it if your enamel isn't that strong. Oh this as well, like the person above me said, you can easily chip your teeth on the balls because of playing with them. One of my friends has to dig gum out of his tongue all the time because it gets stuck to his tongue ring. GROSS! It's just not a good idea at this age. Side note- a tongue piercing is illegal under the age of 18 in Washington if you go through a shop that follows all the laws without side stepping to make money. Check out state laws first.

i hardly doubt that one more person telling you is going to make a difference. but you are 13...dont get your tongue peirced. it sends the wrong message. it is so easily infected that most people i know have had to take them out. its hard to talk and you kind of have to re-teach yourself. for a week or two, your tongue will swell up making it impossible to speak or eat. not to mention you are 13 and i highly doubt that any parent is ok with their 13 year old getting a tongue piercing. you wont be able to hide it. so if you were planning on it..think again. i doubt you would be able to get it done anywhere anyway unless you are planning on going to some guys house that does underage stuff. and if so that means they are not legit! they arent clean, they are unprofessional and its way too risky. if you will want it when you are 18 go for it if not then i guses you would have already made the right decision. sorry for sounding so parent-ish but really consider the consequences. its not worth it. i wanted my nose pierced since i was 13. i'm now 20 and i got it pierced 2 years ago when i was 18. i waited long enough to know that i'm not going to regret it but i would have never been able to make that decision back then.

There are not any reward to having your tongue pierced. except you ask a guy. The damaging aspects are: Chipped tooth, receding gums, and a few employers do no longer enable physique rings. those piercings can close very without delay. Who ever you pick to have try this confirm they're authorized, knowledgeable, autoclave sterilize all gadgets touching you, bloodborne pathogens qualified, and are keen to circulate over each and every thing with with from commencing off to end-clarify what is going on & the thank you to shelter it. My greatest suggestion for healing for 30 days following is this: NO alcohol for 30 days (consists of alcohol based mouthwash besides as beer/liquor). lots of ice for 5-7 days. Take , Alieve, Motrin or Tylenol for soreness & swelling, and salt water rinses when you consume, drink, or smoke. i'm hoping this facilitates!.

Well at 13, you are able to get piercings with consent by anyone that has proof of living with you. I've had mine done for about 6 months now, and I love mine. To me, it hurt the most when the clamp was on, and the rest was just fine and dandy. I didn't bleed, but 'm not really a bleeder. I also have my lip pierced and my ears stretched. The least painful was my lip. If you f=do get your tongue done, I would advise you to not play with it because it can cause it to hurt and for the hole to get larger. Well that's all I have to say!

At 13 I think you are far too young to be considering this procedure.. It is very painful it be sure, and hurts for several weeks to several months afterward. It's like driving a nail though your tongue. It also destroyes your teeth, how you wonder?
People with tongue piercings play with the metal shaft so much it chips away at your front teeth.. Now you can always take out the piercing, but the damage to your once beautiful teeth is permanent. Please think long and hard before making this kind of move.
