I have a chronic anxiety problem and have been given sedatives a long time since. Now my weight has increased so the doctor has prescribed thyroxine tabs which have the effect of increasing the metabolism. If I take them together would the metabolism not increase and no loss of weight or dont it matter.

First of all there are may types of sedative with many different mechanisms of action. But generally, there is not contraindication between those two drugs as>> Thyroxine is considered a hormone "Naturally secreated by the thyroid galnds and thus its called growth, metabolism hormone>>
While sedatives as Diazepam, lorazepam, clonazepam or alprazolam all act by inducing inhibition and hypnosis in the brain... while both drugs are taken, no effect will be induced as interaction, as thyroxine is a naturally occuring substance.
also thyroxine can participate in some extent in the anxiolytic antidepressant activity....
