The whole process of getting them on doesn't hurt at all. All they're doing is stretching your mouth (wear chapstick), and then glueing the brackets on and then putting the wires in and stuff. That doesn't hurt, the glue does taste pretty bad though, but they should let you brush your teeth every once in a while. I'd say either right before your appointment (since you're nervous) or right after, you should take an asprin, or two depending on what you usually take, and that'll start working by the time the pain comes. I didn't have too much trouble with pain, it just depends on how senstive your mouth is. It's not as bad as a lot of people say it is, just stay away from hard/hot/terribly cold things for the first few days. I kind of liked the feeling of the braces being tight, because I just could feel they were moving, and you should look in the mirror because in the beginning, there was actually a lot of moving for me, and I could see the results well. Just take asprin before you get them tightened. I know I always got new people that were tightening mine, so they would always slip, or do something wrong and have to take it out and redo it or something. It's not that bad, just take asprin, suck on ice cubes, and everytime you're irritated with your braces, then think of how amazing your smile will be after you get them off, you'll look so good, I promise! And the biggest thing of all-even though I never want to, LISTEN TO YOUR DENTIST...I have a friend, and she had her braces for a year and a half before I got mine on, and she was told she could get her's off after she had them for 2 years, which would've been last year, and they gave her rubberbands to wear, and she never did and they extended it for a year...Now she JUST got her's off, and I'm getting mine off TOMORROW...:D Good luck with your braces, calm down, and just relax..They're not that bad.
And remember people that are in worse shape than you....I have a friend who got braces in 4th grade and has to wear them until she is 21 years old!! I have another friend that got her's when she was 8, and has to wear them until she's 18....Still such a long way to go.
Best of luck!

Congrats first off! You will be so pleased with the end result, just remember that through your treatment. Its worth it. You will hear alot of horror stories about braces. But truly its not that bad. It goes by really fast. Don't get the clear, or porcelain brackets. Those stain with certain foods you eat like BBQ sauce, mustard, marinara sauce, etc. So it kind defeats the purpose. Gets the silver brackets, they are the smallest, and work the fastest. As far as the color thing, I say wear them. your gonna have the braces for approx. 2 years you might as well make a statement. mix and match every month you go in. Always take Advil or Motrin BEFORE you appointments so your premeditated. Stay one step ahead of the game. The first month your get your braces on is the worst. You will never be sore like that again though. Always were your rubber bands like you are instructed. That is what ultimately will decide the length of time you are in braces. So one way to look at it is, everyday you don't wear you rubber bands is another day you are in braces. So be good about it. Last thing. Stay away from all the things they tell you not to eat. If you don't brake brackets, your treatment goes so much faster. Then you can eat whatever you want! :) Oh, and a chocolate shake is always the best thing after an appointment!

They kinda hurt going on, but once they're there and your mouth has adjusted, there's not much to it.
First they'll put spacers in- little plastic bands will be put between your back teeth.
A week or 2 later, the orthodontist will pull out the spacers and put metal bands around those back teeth. He'll also attach brackets to all your teeth, run a wire through the brackets and put little elastic bands on the brackets to hold the wire in place.
After that, you'll be going in to the office on a regular basis (every two-four weeks?) for tightening. At these visits, the doctor will put in a new wire and new bands. Yes, this is kind of uncomfortable, but you'll be able to pick new colors at each visit! I'd suggest for the first visit or 2, pick colors that will blend- if you have the steel brackets, go with grey, if your brackets are the new clear ones, try white or clear.... I think they have clear bands...
A couple things about the social aspect of braces--
If you don't make a big deal of being a "brace face," no one else will, either.
Be careful about kissing- I heard about a boy-friend/girlfriend who were kissing, their braces got stuck and they had to call their orthodontist to get them separated... oh, the orthodontist was her dad!!!
Eating- follow what your orthodontist suggests isn't about limiting what you eat- it's about oral hygene and convenience... Eating corn on the cob is REALLY messy with braces, and a super-huge pain to get all the husks out. Apples are nearly impossible without a knife. Just following the suggestions makes life a lot easier! Also- each you get your braces t
One last thing... when you get your braces off, your mouth will feel funny- you've had a lot of hardware in your mouth, so your lips and cheeks will have stretched out. Your mouth will feel like it's a size or 2 too big. This sensation will also pass within a couple days. No one else will notice anyway- all they'll see is your beautiful smile.

They hurt at first, but after a while you get used to them. When you get them taken off, yuor teeth will feel super smooth. The worst part about braces would probably have to be using the rubber bands, because they can be quite painful. If you wear them when instructed, then they will be off in no time.

Even though they hurt like hell at first... braces are worth it in the long run. I've had mine on for a little over a year, and getting them off in summer. When you get them on, they will hurt for about the first 5-7 days. Just plan on eating extremely soft things. bread, soup, ice cream... For the color part, its up to u. :]
PS- cupcakes answer is ehh. Invisalign is only designed for people that only need very little change in their teeth, no matter what you get, it takes time for you're teeth to be straight

don't bother with the colors, yes they say that is just the same as not having it. but i have been wearing bracers for a large portion of my life, and i did have the coloring, but there was something odd with them. after a few weeks i had some gum problems, small boils would start to appear on my gums, and later all over my mouth (the inside) at first nobody tracked it to the colors that where used and i had the coloring for the entire time not knowing what was wrong with my mouth, it was really horrible and towards the end they would have a tendency to burst and small amounts of blood came out in my mouth. but the thing was, that when they where actually removed i started to get better, and now, like 2 months later, they told me that it was caused by some odd ingredient found in the colors they used.
my advise is not to get the colors, but it up to you in the end.

Well, on colors, all different orthodontists have different colors, but i like to get teal and purple. also, make sure you brush your teeth really well at least twice a day. if you dont, the area around your braces will get yellow and really gross. i have broken my braces on ice cream cake, so be careful when eating things that are hard and sticky. i eat Starbursts and chew gum like everyday, but be careful and only chew sugarfree gum like orbit and trident. ALSO DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE BUT YOUR ORTHODONTIST ON THIS, BUT DO NOT GET SEE THROUGH BRACES BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOUR TEETH!!!!!!!! AND THAT OTHER GUY SAID THAT THE COLORS CAUSED BOILS OR WHATEVER, BUT ORTHODONTISTS WOULDNT OFFER TEHM IF THEY ARE NOT 100% SAFE!!!!!
