Soon to be 16 and having read the quotation 'When I became a man I put away childish things', I have mentally consigned all my stuff to the store cupboard. Now I'm left with nothing to do.

The boozing and sex are the childish things to be placed in the store cupboard. Now concentrate on your education and prepare for your career. If you still want to be around girls then go out on group dates - have fun and enjoy yourself without the booze and sex - it can be done!
Most girls would love to be with a guy who does NOT have booze and sex on his mind all of the time. I feel the booze and sex are only immature masks for males; something to hide behind because they have been listening to others who are immature, brag so much about it and don't realize that's NOT what females find attractive in males.
You need to learn how to treat females with respect, love, caring, kindness and then slowly (only if she's willing) lead up to sex but only if that's really what you want to do. Females do enjoy sex but only if we're not forced into it!
Talk to your mother about this and see how she feels.

You've got your whole life ahead of you. Think of all that you could achieve, there's a world of opportunity, so much knowledge. There's so much more to life than just booze and sex. Read something inspiring. Also you don't have to consign everything from your childhood to the store cupboard. Especially don't give up on having fun, on the imagination, creativity, curiosity...

Becoming a man means making the right and mature decisions. Childish things don't have to be childish. Many men just call it a hobby. And that is way better than using your time and energy on booze and sex.

I think there's more to becoming a 'man' than turning a certain age. I remember when I was your age I thought myself to be quite the grown-up also, so it's not just you, don't worry. There's no need to put things away if you're still enjoying them.
I'm nearly 19 now and I still have silly little things that I play with (although I'm not male) lol.

Why? Who said you should do that? St. Paul (those were his words) meant childish attitudes not past times when he said that. If you want to have fun - then go ahead and be yourself and don't worry what other people say. Look at the number of kids who get Scalextric for Christmas - now do you honestly think their dads (and mums) buy it for them alone?

Is that what you really want for yourself? I'll tell you a secret. Its not as glamarous as it is in the movies. It is empty meaningless pleasure and it will never emotionally fulfill you. I'm not saying become a puritan but there is A LOT more to life than getting wasted and a piece of @$$.

For 95% of the population, ie. the pikeys, all they can find to do in their spare time is watch tv, get drunk, have sex and go to night clubs but there are a minority of educated, civilised people who lead exciting, fulfilled lives.

Make sure that you become one of the latter!
