I don't know anyne who hasn't enjoyed Halloween... and I sure haven't seen anyone hurt by it. Much of christian ritual is directly from Paganism and Wiccan ritual. Have all the christians been "badly influenced" by it? Probably not. The thing to watch out for is self-rightousness, not "witchcraft."

The first question I would ask you is how old are your children? And the second question is what does just playing mean? A lot would depend on the psychological problems that could occur if the self righteous people begin to condemn them.
I began learning about witchcraft when I was 12, did not really practice until I was comfortable with the craft and had a pretty good idea of what I was doing. If they are old enough, try encouraging them to learn about all religions so they can find the path that is right for them. Witchcraft is really nothing to play with if you are doing it in a serious manner. Playing "Harry Potter" or Charmed" is nothing more than just that, play. We do not have special powers and don't do tricks. Our "spells" are generally for protection or healing, we do not meddle in other peoples lives. We are just ordinary people who have done a lot of studying in the art of "magick". Simply we have learned to utilize what the earth has provided, sort of an ability to focus the energy. Nothing flashy like what you see on TV or in the movies.
Over all I would have to say that it is a good influence since it teaches respect for nature. Most of all is our Rede, and that is (simply put) "do as you will but harm none". So that really can't be a bad thing. I think it would be nice if everyone from every religion would follow it!
Another thing is that we do not criticize the religion of others as it is a personal choice and I think most of us feel like "God" is like the top of a mountain, there are many paths to get there.

Witchcraft is not playing around. Sure, there are a few "fluff-bunnies" who think it's cool and dabble in it, but for the rest of us, it's a serious matter. It's not a bad influence or a good influence. It really shouldn't be an influence at all, really. That's like asking if praying is a bad influence. Contact me if you have more questions.

Blessed Be.

No it is not a bad influence. It is just playing. If they are getting into Wicca, that's even better. Wicca is a very positive religion, regerdless of what the xenophobic fundies might say.

Why? What is happening on March 6?

Witchcraft is not a bad influence but neither is is just playing
those who do witchcraft take this very seriously with ethics and morals ... as there is a lot of responsibility involved

It is a false religion and therefore a negative influence. There is nothing to be gained from witchcraft, I suppose children dressing up as witches just for fun is o.k, providing they know the real evil nature of such a false religion which attempts to harness powers from a source which has nothing to do with God,(as it is forbidden by God) and therefore can only be from Lucifer or his agents.

Neither.

Remember, one faith's "witchcraft" is another religion's prayer and ritual. Real witchcraft is a serious religion; those who teach and practice it are generally responsible, good people. And we rarely teach it to children, other than simple basics like visualization and such.

No in fact if taught in a positive light it can be a great help in a good child becoming a good adult. As for playing it is nothing to play with, i dont imagine you allow your little ones to "play" when they pray. Its very rude of you to think this way but i wont hold it against you its taught in church and even goes against the bible, as the hebrew god you "play" at worshipping even mentions other gods and some by name. Try not to think of your child searching for thie own path as playing, its very real to us.

It's not a bad influence, but as with any sort of beliefs, should be taken seriously, not joking. You wouldn't joke about being Christian, Jewish or Islam and play with those rituals, would you??

It deserves more respect.

Neither. It's prayer with oomph.

Don't let the superstitious fears of ignorant, gullible bigots tell you it's evil or satanic or demonic or "bad" or any of the other stupid things they say. People who claim that have obviously never even been near it.
