I don't think so, really. I think that once I die, I will cease to be. All the electro-chemical activity in my brain will stop, and all I have been and known and thought will no longer be.

Consequently, I think what I do while alive is my only chance to be a decent, loving human being.

No. "Surviving death" is an oxymoron. When the brain dies, you cease to exist. Everything that makes you who you are is gone. Death is, like for every other life form on Earth, the end of our existence. If we had "souls", we would continue to exist in some form if brain death occurred, like in a car accident, for example. People who are brain dead are called "vegetables" for a reason. The plug is pulled because people know that the person they used to know is no longer there. There is no feeling that the person remains in any form. Based on that, and having both witnessed death and come very close to it myself, I see no evidence for life after death.

The most wonderful thing is that although every day innumerable creatures go to the abode of death, still a man thinks he is immortal. The tidings are that in this world––which is like a cauldron with the sun as its fire, days and nights as its fuel, and months and seasons as its wooden ladle––all creatures are being cooked by time. Nobody will scape from death. "As sure as death."

Memory, thought, sensation and perception are all products of a living brain.

When the brain dies, these processes cannot possibly survive.

When you think about it, it is really inane to believe these aspects of you can survive without a brain.

But if you think your thoughts, memories, ability to see, etc., will survive your death, let me tell you about this bridge I have for sale....

I happen to be a fan of Sylvia Browne. I've seen enough of her one question readings on Montell and listened to her "Ask Sylvia" radio show, as well as read her books, to know that we are all going home to Heaven after we leave here. For many of us this is our last life time. We have all been here before. This is just a temporary place of learning. We do it for God. Our lives here on Earth are just a drop in the bucket compared to our Eternal lives on the Other Side.

I've never heard of anyone surviving their own death, unless they were dead for a minute and then revived. That happened to me eight years ago. I got heat stroke and crossed over for a minute but they were able to bring me back.

Blessed Be.

Yes....see John 14:1-6...Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.....

This is something I'm not sure about....but I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter. If it's over, I won't notice anyway, and if there is something, I know it doesn't include hell or being a toady forever.
