Historically the oldest book included in Scripture, Job tells the conditions of one who continues in earnest faith and finally realizes that there is another truth much larger than previously conceived. We see Job as he experiences the prophesy that increased knowledge brings increased sadness.
Others see Job's misery and fail to understand his depths.
Job asks to speak with God and is granted his request.
Job is given guidance in the form of questions to be answered by Job as he seeks to make sense of his new found truths.
In this sense the Book of Job becomes a kind of work sheet, a quiz, for Job a job or a short piece of work. Job and job are here a pun.

Job was a prosperous farmer living in the Land of Uz. He had thousands of sheep, camel, and other livestock, a large family, and many servants. Suddenly, Satan the Accuser came before God claiming that Job was trusting God only because he was wealthy and everything was going well for him. And so the testing of Job's faith began.
Satan was allowed to destroy Job's children, servants, livestock, herdsmen, and home; but Job continued to trust in God. Next Satan attacked job Physically, covering him with painful sores. Job's wife fold him to curse God and die, but Job suffered in silence.
The drama ended with Job being restored to happiness and wealth.

Hi. The first book of Job is about a wealthy man of upright character who loves God. God allows this man to be tested by Satan and although Job does not understand, he does not give up on God.
This is a great book and an example how we often don't understand our trials and tribulations of the flesh, but God remains strong and we can depend on him.

I had a long answer, and now it is lost in CYBERSPACE, as I went to see what was wrong with KZOK, the beatles were no longer playing on my computer so ...READ IT.
No...
It says that Job was GODS GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT...
So the Devil sorta makes a bet with God.
He says I have seen your servant Job.
I bet if he was to LOSE all of his POSSESSIONS he would turn his back on you, and God Gives the devil Permission to take away all of JOBS things, but not to harm one hair on Jobs head.
So the devil does.
He wipes out his Livestock, his children are all killed by a strong tempest, at their brothers house for a party, etc. etc. and only one of Jobs servants from each incedent was able to make it out safe to come tell Job of the news.
So Job says, to his wife who tells Job, To curse God and go on"...Job tells his wife, No I will not Curse God, God gives and God takes away...
So the devil enters a meeting of GOD and the angels.
God says to the devil From wher do you come, and the devil replies, from going to and fro through the eart...
God says, so what about my servant JOB, and the devil says, yeah, well I am sure that if you allow pain and suffering to come on him he will curse you.
So God reluctantly (maybe) agrees. He says, okay, you go and inflict pain upon my servant, but do NOT KILL HIM.
So the devil goes off, he inflicts painful boils and sores on Job.
jobs wife says to him, you should just curse GOD and die.
Job Says ,"No, I will not curse God. We praise Him when He Gives us good things and should we not praise Him when things go wrong as well???"
So Job does not curse GOD.
Then Job's THREE GOOD FRIENS come to COMFORT AND CONSOLE HIM.
Basically after pages of LENGTHY CONVERSATIONS, they say,"Job, obviously you or your family has sinned against GOD.
God does not JUST bring this type of Infliction Upon the Righteous..."
Job Says he has done nothing wrong, and infact he says that he makes sacrafices for his family and himself, just incase he or his family has done any wrong in Gods eyes...
So his friends keep telling him to confess his sins before God, and it will be better for him.
Job curses the day he was born, he says that day should not even be allowed to be remembered.
Finally God comes to Jobs Rescue.
He says WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH???
Where were you JOB, That you should or could QUESTION me and My decisions of what I do or do not do???
And then God "LAYS into JOBS FRIENDS, and tells them, they had better LISTEN to Job, and that they all should repent and ask forgiveness basically,...That Job had done no wrong, and that they should all take lessons from Job.
Then Jobs Cattle, were restored to 100 times more than he had, he had Children, and all his Crops were more than he had ever had before...
God restored all things 10- 50 or 100 times...
And Job never CURSED GOD.
So I guess the devil LOST the BET, if it was a bet.
God knew Job would not FALTER.
So there you go...
By the way...are you 5 or something...
"DOES"...is "DOES", not "DOSE" that is like a "dose" of medicine...
And JOB is "JOB" not "jobe"...
King James Bible...and what do you mean,"first book" of JOB??? as there is only ONE BOOK OF JOB.
Well I hope I answered well for you anyway...

It talks about a man named Job.
A god-fearing man.
So god-fearing that the devil chose him as a test.
The devil thought he could lead Job away from God by using death, sickness, pauvrety.
The devil lost

I gather you mean the book of Job. It is one of the oldest books in the Bible. It is difficult for us to understand all the complexities of spiritual and celestial life. As the reading says; Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them." This was an meeting between God, His angels (sons of God) and Satan. Satan was already cast out of heaven his prior abode. Here he is summoned to this meeting. God asked where he came from. Satan answered; " From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." This shows that even that far back, Satan as he is even now "walking up and down in the earth."
God tells Satan about Job, "that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" Satan being a smart a@@, says to God; "Hath not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and all that he hath on every side?" Satan is basically saying, Yea, big deal, you have him protected on all sides.
Satan then throws down the gauntlet. " But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face." This is a big challenge. God knows and trust Job. " And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand."
Satan was given the power to do whatever he wanted to Job. Except he could not take his life." Read what happens to Job and his family in vss. 16-19.
The same meeting occurs in chap.2. God states His position of trust in Job, and says; " and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face." Satan is really pi##ed now, because he cannot win over Job. God replies. " And the Lord said unto Satan,
Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life."
Satan could do his worst, but was not allowed to take Job's life.
Read again the results starting at vs. 7.
God knew Job through and through. Satan whacked him left and right. Throughout it all, Job never cursed God, he continued to bless him. In the end, Job for his integrity got back double that which he lost.
It is a story of perseverance and fidelty. Job trusted completely in God, even though his trial was greater than an human being could ever endure.
I am not a theologian, but I understand that everytime we or any Christian sins. Satan comes to a similar meeting like the one mentioned, and makes a claim for our souls. But, as the Scripture says; " And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:1. The Father has to look thru Jesus when He sees us. Jesus says, Father I died for him/her.
If we only knew how lucky and blessed we are. Hope this give you some additional understanding into this marvelous book.
