Lots! I was reading yeaterday that Microshaft are recommending 2GB! thats utterly ridiculous and yet another reason that i'll be holding onto XP for a while yet.

Windows Vista is a monster of an upgrade for windows.

The minimum system requirements for the non-aero interface is in the ballpark of 512MB - you can run it with 256, but it will not run well, and is not worth doing.

If you want to run it with the aero interface, Microsoft state a minimum of 1GB of ram in order to get the 'optimum experience' - I've found it will run reasonably on a 512MB machine, and fairly well on a 768MB one.

The actual memory used by the operating system is still much less than both estimates, but running the software on anything below 512MB will be painful.

Vista also needs 10GB of free hard drive space to install and run.

It's a huge & hungry upgrade, one of the reasons I won't be entertaining it for quite a while. The others are that it is still very buggy and there are as yet few drivers or programs that are compatible.

(I gather 1gb of RAM to run satisfactorily and up to 10gb disk space)
