arthrotec contains two medicines. The first is diclofenac, a nonsteriodal antiinflamatory or NSAID. The second is misoprostol, a prostaglandin direvative that is used to protect the lining of your intestines from the NSAID.

So to answer your question, I would avoid other NSAIDS like ibuprofen or aleve but any other pain medicine should be safe to take. Talk with your doctor first about the specific medicine you are talking about to be absolutely sure.

Be really careful, research it online at least and ask your Dr AND pharmacist. My mother almost died from taking pain medicine with another drug and after 10 days in the hospital the Dr who almost killed her by prescribing those meds to her, prescribed it AGAIN!
So no the Dr's don't always know, I think pharmacist know better because they know all the drugs better but still I would research it myself.
I would go to a place like the link I post below and check for myself because after that I really don't trust Dr's, after all they are just humans and they do make mistakes but this is your life we are talking about you and the responsibility really does lay in your lap :)
The link I posted is very useful you can tell it all the meds you are taking and compair them to others to see if there are any interractions between them.
