Be more peaceful? Be honest. Think about, think about wars, and discrimination. Consider it, weigh it, don't be a bigot. I want every group of people to respond. Would the world have less hate without religion?

Remember, atheists are people without a religion, but they don't go around killing and following their own rules. So don't use that against atheists as a reason. I think religions were a great basis for morales thousands of years ago, but I think they are becoming corrupt and tawdry now and simply began to discriminate. Remember, who killed who way back when? The Catholics or the Atheists ("heretics"). Catholics beheaded and burnt atheists. So who is more violent? Of course this is in the past, but think about it.

Communists=Atheists, but Atheists aren't communist. Westboro Baptist Church may be corrupt and evil, but that does not make all baptists corrupt. It would be a stereotype to claim that atheists were all communists.

Also, claiming that I am a murderous communist that wants peace through the process of hate is ridiculous. It's like the Salem Witch Trials or the Red Scare. Communists did not go about peacefully to try and create a world without religion. Not to mention, nowhere in here did I say I wanted a world without religion. Please do not assume.

I think that a world without religion would ultimately embrace this, said to the Supreme Court a long time ago:

"Your petitioners are Atheists and they define their beliefs as follows:

An Atheist loves his fellow man instead of god. An Atheist believes that heaven is something for which we should work now – here on earth for all men together to enjoy.

An Atheist believes that he can get no help through prayer, but that he must find in himself the inner conviction, and strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue it and enjoy it.

An Atheist believes that only in a knowledge of himself and a knowledge of his fellow man can he find the understanding that will help to a life of fulfillment.

He seeks to know himself and his fellow man rather than to know a god. An Atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An Atheist believes that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said. An Atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated. He wants man to understand and love man.

He wants an ethical way of life. He believes that we cannot rely on a god, or channel action into prayer, nor hope for an end of troubles in a hereafter.

He believes that we are our brother's keepers; and are keepers of our own lives; that we are responsible persons and the job is here and the time is now.”

-- Definition of Atheism was given to the Supreme Court of the United States in the case of Murray v. Curlett, 374 U.S. 203, 83 S. Ct. 1560, 10 L.Ed.2d (MD, 1963), to remove reverential Bible reading and oral unison recitation of the Lord's Prayer in the public schools.

Yes, a world without medicine. A world without technology. A world where people still think that there are waters in some huge vat in the sky. Shall I go on? Ok, I will. Science has never cornered the market on weapons. Human violence drives that development. By far, superstition and differences over unsubstantiated opinions is more damaging. Weapons may kill or damage in the short term, but religion has enslaved the human race for far longer. Is maybe a world without humans better for the rest of the living things? At the rate we're going, the cockroach will inherit the earth. Talk about meek, eh?

>>>Remember, atheists are people without a religion, but they don't go around killing and following their own rules.>>>

They don't? And what do you call what the communists have done?

Communist thugs have more blood on their hands than everyone else in history put together.

Communism -- with over 150 million victims and counting -- is by far the most murderous institution in world history.

And communism is officially atheist.

That's not a coincidence.

Communism has already tried to give us the very thing that you advocate -- that is, it has already tried to give us a "more peaceful world without religion."

I think that, 150 million slaughtered victims later, we can safely call it an unmitigated -- and all too bloody -- disaster.

Oh, did I mention that the communists were officially atheist?

From this Atheist I would say no. Religions don't start wars people start wars. Religions are just used for an excuse. There would be just as much war. Only different excuses. Most Atheists like to blame war on religion but that is just silly. War is the nature of man. War is fought for control of power using all sorts of excuses. Man has been at constant war since he came down out of the trees and he will always be at war. Hisszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A world without religion could be a much better place if it was built upon rationalism. If a non-religious dogma, such as communism or nationalism, simply took the place of religion then it would probably not be a better place.

Religion is not the problem per se. It's any belief system founded upon dogma rather than reason that is the problem.

Yes, organized religion causes wars, that's because they're man made institutions, most of whom put power before God. If people can accept the idea that God exists without organized religions, and that the small differences shouldn't matter, then yes, the world would be more peaceful. Wars would still occur though, it's not like we're in Iraq pushing the word of God, we just want oil, money, power, ect.

No, the world would not be a better place without Religion If everybody in the world believe in God there would be peace and Love, because God is Love....Salvation comes through trust in Christ, believing he will do for us what he has promised. Hope is expecting that he will give us everlasting life and that we will live with him forever. We can't yet see these things, but we can hope with assurance, for our hope is built on a trust in the most trustworthy one of all...Love in Christ...Josie

Islam and Christianity are not the only faiths on earth. There are many other like Hinduism, Buddism, Jainism......which can only bring peace.
So, I think we should accept reality that religion is born out of man's curiosity and do not reject it, its a gift from older generations. Lets only denounce faiths that are responsible for hatred.
Painting every thing with same brush is not wise.

Dear Mr. Rabbit:
When a group of people share the same space, some rules are needed.
Otherwise, chaos. Selfishness will come to the fore.
As long as humans are sharing life on this planet, some rules are needed.
Religion is suppose to provide those guidelines which lead to peace.
It has done a terrible job.
However, we wouldn't want to confuse Christianity with Christendom.

Yes it woul;d be the ideal state because all the wars were fought in the name of religion and it contnues to be.
There should be only one religion: The religion of humanity. The world would be a better place to live in.
