You appear to have solid reasons for not wanting to remain in Cincinnati. Your father is probably basing his decision on your grades and the field you want to study.
If you are a good student, making decent grades, and if the field you are interested in is offered at Ohio State, then I think you have some bargaining tools.
If you are just doofing around and want to transfer to Ohio State to get out from under parental supervision, then I say your chances are limited.
Parents will listen and be supportive if you are doing what is required of you. Good luck.

Well you did make an agreement, that is first thing so take that into consideration. Also, take it upon yourself to go to Ohio State and see if all of your classes will transfer, you will need that to support your argument. If they don't your parents will again frown upon transferring there bc they have wasted money. What arguments do you have for wanting to go to OSU? OSU is in Columbus right are you sure you will like it there? And it is more of a party school (with Central across the way) your parents know this, trust. I think the factors you mentioned will apply wherever u go, you and gf are still split, you will still be out of the hse, and will still make new friends. School is what you make it. I went to TSU in Nashville, TN and hated it at first but guess what it is what you make it. If your reasoning is concrete, and not just I don't like it your parents will listen. They would rather you finish than just stopping bc you are not happy. Good Luck and where ever you are you need that piece of paper.

First, let us tackle the "school" issue. Your intention is good but hey, how can you guarantee your Dad you'll make it better in Ohio? Dude, I guess wherever you wanna enroll or transfer what really matters is how you are going to be effective in your academics. Second, let us talk about the "neighborhood" issue in Cinci, do ya really get mugged everytime you try going near? Solutions: (1) I do not see any reason why your Dad won't let you to Ohio if you can prove him your worth to Cinci University. (2) Get him to see what worse within the neighborhood to let him realize you need a new environment. (3) Donot push him into decisions. BE PATIENT.

Well i have never been there but if i were in your shoes i would tell your parents that you are going to Ohio or you are going nowhere. Just pack up your stuff and leave. If your parents don't like it tell them how you feel. Writing down your feelings is better. Tell your parents that this University(cincinnati) is making you suicidal, they will transfer you.

if changing colleges will keep you safe then do it. You have make your parents understand that you are making the right choices for your own safety. I think changing colleges would be a great choice for you if you know some of your friends are going there..I hope all the best for you..By the way have you explained to your dad that you may get mugged or maybe even worst..your parents should be as concerned about your safety as you are...good luck

Try and explain to your family, about the crime, and that you do not feel safe. And that school is hard enough, that you do not need that worry. explain to your parents that you hope they can understand. Or, ever thing pertaining to crime in the area, mail it to them, so they can see what you are talking about! I hope they can understand, so you can get on with your education!

Tell them you fear for your safety and are miserable. I'm sure they want you to succeed and be happy.
