I just found out there are two types of chemical straighters. One is a relaxer and the other one I forgot by I learned the yesterday. The relaxer is meant for long-term and the other one is a short term one that does not last very long. The main difference between the two are the chemicals used to make the hair straight.
My hair is not long enough to use a straight/flat iron to straighten it, plus my hair texture is not meant for those types of methods. I use a relaxer and it last up to 6 weeks. I use it because my hair will become unmanageable. It is naturally curly and not naturally wavey curly like most people, but just weird curly.
My hair is also really odd, too thick to have the white men/women hair texture and look and to thin to have the black hair texture and look. So i'm left in the middle.
I get relaxers every month or two and it makes it manageable and I'm able to put it into styles and such.

I had only a small portion of my hair chemically straightened, and it didn't even straighten it too well. So, I tried to straighten the section with a straightening iron- and my hair started to fall out! I never chemically straightened it again!

It looks good at first, but then it wears off within two weeks and it drys out your hair so bad.Just stick to using a good hair straightener like a Chi.

It will not make your hair poker straight, but will certainly reduce your frizz. It relaxes your hair. My opinion is that once you get it chemically straightened try not to flat iron it or blow it straight every day -- it will dry it up.

it makes you hair have little flyways, and REALLY dries it out. it doesn't last 1/2 as long as they say either.
