It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk World War 3.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask will there ever be a third world war, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers....the REAL bulls in the glass shop. The arsenals of Russia and the US can destroy a million Hiroshimas.

I think we could at the beginning of one now between the Western liberal democracies and those who adhere to the extreme expressions of Islam. How it develops will depend largely upon Israel's response to the Iranian nuclear threat.

Everyone looses in war overall. Sadly some have to be fought to prevent greater evils. If any war goes nuclear, then the world is in big trouble.

If the West v Extreme Islam scenario does happen the outcome will depend upon the response of the less militant Islamic nations and the reaction of Muslims in Western civilisations.

There is also a possibility that China might attack and invade Taiwan. NATO would probably loose against China if the war escalated. If the NATO leaders are sensible, they will try and undermine and subvert the Chinese totalitarian system rather than taking her on in war.

Yes..of course...please just take a look at human history and then at human society now......there is no doubt that in time there will be another global war. As to winner....perhaps in one fashion or another one side will have more survivors thus be the winner, but then it will merely start the cycle all over again, as long as there is a human left.....that is called " The Nature of the Beast ".

yes i believe there will be a third world war. i think it may start if Israel declares war with Iran. my reasons for this is that America will join sides with Israel along with Britain and other European countries, Australia, and a few other country's. Libya, North Korea, possibly china, and other terrorist regimes will join Iran and you never know Russia ma use this as an opportunity to attack America. who knows? if this did happen i think there would be no winners this time round due to9 the fact that it will most probably finish with the use of nuclear weapons globally!

It's only a matter of time, probably will start with either North Korea or China getting fed up with the "Good ol' US of A" meddling in their affairs.

As for winners, the only winners in war are the polititians and arms companies, but that's in the hope they dont go nuclear...

Yes, I do. Humans have proven that we are unable to learn from our mistakes, and therefore we will most likely suffer from them again. I think it will start in the Middle East because there seems to be a lot of tension there and it won't be too long before the rest of the world is involved. As in the past wars, one side will probably come out on top, but the number of deaths and economic catastrophe would far out way any winning.

It has started since 1990 when Iraq invaded Kuwait and America under the UN mandate chased the Iraqis out of kuwait.

The world political events are being shaped by this incident since it occured 26 years ago. Where would it end, we all dont know yet. But for sure the world is the same anymore.

well, since about 1990, our military has gone with many other nations to various parts of southwest asia and africa. Multiple theatres, multiple militaries. In that, it has been a world war allready. A war where multiple nations fight together or against each other.

I think you need to define what you think a world war would entail to you..

We're there, already. We've been in it since 9-11-01.

The rest of the world just hasn't caught on, yet.

There are no winners.
