The answer is no, photocopying the front or back of your credit card will not damage the strip. The light used in copy machines has no affect on the card itself. And there are no magnets within the workings of the machine.

No, it is the same as photocopying your bank card (Key card), and only a myth. As long as you keep the strip away from anything with magnetic properties, you will be fine.

No. It's a myth. I worked for a store which photocopies drivers licenses and credit cards all the time.
The magnets thing is a half truth....you would have to leave it touching a magnet for hours.

This shouldn't hurt the dtrip unless you do it a LOT. It is my understanding that they are magnetic. Magnets are affected by other magnets and heat. While the copier does use magnetism and the scan lamp developes heat I don't think iether is enough to damage a card strip.
