Real religious people? I don't know what exactly you mean by "Real religious people are not scared of death", or what you base your opinion on, but okay.
Personally, I think EVERYONE is at the very least apprehensive of death, if not downright scared (although the latter comprises the majority, i think).
Why are most people scared of death? I see a couple of reasons.
One is that death usually comes unexpectedly. Most people don't like the feeling of not being in control, and this uneasiness leads to apprehension which might lead to fear. This explains the few people i've known who've suffered terminal illnesses... they know when it's coming, so they're not as scared.
Another reason is because we simply don't KNOW what lies beyond. No one is sure. Not the most devout Catholic or whatever. Due to its nature, we really can't know anything about death until we experience it for ourselves. What we do not know scares us (as evidenced by how common fear of the dark is).
If death is scary, why go to wars? Because some people believe some things are worth fighting for? Then again... most people don't have a say in the matter. The average person definitely wouldn't relish being sent into battle.
Hope i helped! :D

It is natural to fear death because there is always an uncertainty of what lies afterwards as well as pure simple change. Death is/has always been our enemy, we spend our lives avoiding it to enjoy life. We were not meant for death but it came as a curse in relation to our sin.
Just because we are religious does not mean we are afraid of death. We have the most reason out of anyone NOT to be but that does not negate old fashioned human nature!

Death is scary because no one truly knows what happens to you after. Wars are about ideas, death is a byproduct. There are plenty of real religious people who are scared of death. There are plenty of non-religious people who are ready to defend their honor with their life.
What, exactly, is you question?

I can honestly say I'm not even remotely scared of death. It seems to be life is the thing to be afraid of. Death is just a lovely long rest!

Religious people "not scared of death"?
Then why is so much effort expended in trying to deal with the prospect of it?

I'm not afraid of it, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to face it. If I was faced with death, I'm sure I'd fear it then, though.
So I guess I do fear death! But I'm on 19 years old, so I still feel like I have a lot of life to live and a lot of chances to take. If it was my time to go, say in many years, then it's just time to go.

we have an innate view of ourselves that suggests we are immortal, until we experience something traumatic, but even then, we seem to bounce back and think "that won't happen to me" and move on.
for instance, the greatest risk-takers (statistically young men between 18 and 25) are the most likely to be involved, injured or even killed in a car accident. They have what is called "over-confidence", which arises from that idea that they cannot possibly die or get hurt. Until we experience injury or death, the lesson simply does not get driven home.

Your statement that "real religious people are not scared of death" is contradicted by scientifically based polls that indicate that the higher one's score on religiosity, the higher one's score of fear of mortality.
