I absolutly agree with you. I had a friend call me yesterday who wanted to talk about her religion and kept pressuring me to join her church and follow her beliefs. She said that they follow the true word of God and that for the sake of my salvation I should follow them. When I tried to calmly explain to her that I respect her beliefs but they are not my own she became angry and defensive. She refused to listen to me and brushed my beliefs off. I find it frustrating and hurtful. I have always been willing to listen to other peoples ideas and respect their beliefs... all I ask is for the same in return.

I agree

It is because religious views are by their nature mutually exclusive. Everyone believes they alone have the truth so there is no need to listen to your beliefs if they do not align with what they are trying to propagate.

Also, many religions have as part of their text, the aspect to evangelize, recruit or introduce others to their philosophy so as to "save" or enlighten them.

I will admit that the religious body that I belong to as it.
We introduce others because most in the western world have no concept of our way of belief.

I am most tolerant of others way of believing, as I belong to a religious minority.

It's the only way that their own views can stand, with no opposition. I personally believe that if I can't defend what I believe in the I have no reason to believe it. So I am always open to other people's views, I am secure with my own beliefs but I'm comforatable with the fact that i can be wrong and if i am then i'm comfortable with making a change.

It is best to not go face to face in a religious debate, because it only leads to a fight, with zero understanding. We are to just live it out and let our light shine and then others will be drawn to it and then ask or seek out the info then you are welcome to give your testimony because you were asked. Make it brief and move on. I am a Christian and I will tell anyone about God and the Bible if they want to know, and I also struggle with getting angry when someone disses the Lord and I tend to lash out, being the imperfect one that I am.

No, you are not alone. Many folks want to convince others that their views are correct and other views are wrong. Some do this as an act of trying to help others. Other folks think that they are the only ones that are right and all others are wrong.
There are three subjects that are sometimes best avoided: sex, religion and politics.

yeah at times that does seem to be the case on this forum although there are some openminded people on here who do like to learn about different people's religious or nonreligious beliefs and points of views

Yeah. 100% of those people just wanna preach and your job is to shuddup. Sometimes you can also sit at the feet of the master and look up adoringly.

I prefer the types who don't wanna "share views" but who wanna "have a discussion." Those don't happen often, but they're fun when they do!

No one likes to be told such things especially because of the tone in which it is usually told. It can leave the hearer with the impression that they are saying, "You're not good like me!!" Or "I'm better than you!" Or, "You suck!!" Or, "I hate you! You're scum!!" Quite frankly that is NOT the message of the Christian faith - actually the opposite. We Christians sometimes get to looking at people of other religions like opposing sports teams and we treat them as such. A grave mistake!
Hell is a reality and those who don't trust Jesus as their Savior will go there not because "they suck" but because they didn't accept God's way of redemption = putting ones faith in the shed blood of His perfect Son.
But as Christians, our attitude is not to be one of condemnation but rather sorrow and warning for those who don't choose Christ because that is God's attitude for all who refuse to come to Him.

You are NOT the only one who thinks that way...
and I'll tell ya, it's not just "religious views"---those types of people also exist in sports, politics, and even the grocery aisles!

Yeah, I absolutely agree. People who do that don't really want to share their views at all, but instead they want to convince you that they're right.
