I don't know if anyone really knows what they would do in such a situation unless they were actually in it.

All good intentions aside, we just react when our lives are in danger.

No. I do think that the children should get some extra attention since they may need help and they might not be able to get out on their own. I think men and women should leave the building at the same time but everyone should try to grab a child.

The people closest to the door should leave first. What sense does it make if men were closer to the door and they had to back up and move away so that women and children could get out before them. You'd have men lined up blocking the area near the exit while they were waiting for all the women and children to run by.

I can't believe people mentionned pets! I mean, I love animals. And I would probably try and save my mum's cat if she were in a building. But other people's animals?

Asso, I don't know how I would react, actually. I don't think women should necessarily go before men, but I hope I would try and save a kid or two.

But in those cases, I'm not sure you think in a sane way. It's called survival instinct. I still think I would care about kids, though.

For those who survived 9/11...they say that many men were allowing women to go down those stairs before them. Some even carried women on their backs. Both men and women were trying to help the elderly during that mad scramble.

I dont believe the Women and Children thing is in effect much anymore. The Titanic sank (1912) with plenty of women and children on board, and many men survived.

Yes. No man could live with his conscience if woman and children died because he saved himself. I'd rather die, than live with the guilt of doing that.

It depends on how far you are from them, but you can save your self first so you were be able to save them after.

No. I'd tell everybody to not panic and stay calm and that I'd make sure they all got out even if I didn't.

i'd find my cat, diary, and piggy bank first (j/k)

depends on the risk to myself and the risk to them, how close they are to an exit, how close i am, but most likely i'd panic and let some one else play hero...

I think that I would at least try to help someone else get out while trying to get out myself.
