Apply for an EIN, which is an employer identification number for your business. You will have to provide the IRS with your ss number to receive this number but you can then use your EIN when doing business.

You can use your business' EIN or other TIN for business credit. However, you'll probably need to guarantee any credit personally until the business establishes a D&B rating of its own and you'll have to use your SSN for that.
Hopefully we'll get away from using SSNs for credit transactions soon. A 9-digit Zip Code and last name is sufficient to uniquely identify over 99% of the population. Add in a full name and address and there's no need to ever use an SSN. Write your state and federal representatives to push them on this matter.

If you are a registered company and are incorporated you just take in a financial statement or a business plan into the bank or loan company and see if you qualify for a loan. Most places they will require your social insurance number now to protect themselves from fraud or identity theft. There must be a reason you don't wan't to give it.

If you apply for a business card you may apply to the IRS for a Taxpayer ID number and use that instead of your SS#. Check with the credit card company and see what their requirement is. Good luck.

You could probably use your business's TIN, but you would likely need to guarantee it and use your ow social security #. Even if you didn;t guarantee it, you might still be liable depending on the busness type and how you usethe money you borrow.
